I have followed the RAGOM site for several years - always interested in the stories of the dogs that have been rescued and being amazed by the wonderful volunteers who are so committed to finding the right "forever home" for each and every rescue.  I have always had 2 Golden Retrievers in my house for the last 10 years and that changed this last spring and it was time to reach out to RAGOM.

Buster (he's the one on the right) and I were feeling like something was missing so we filled out the RAGOM application.    A home visit was scheduled and the RAGOM volunteers came to meet with us to learn about Buster and me, while also helping us to better understand RAGOM.   Our application was accepted and we were assigned a volunteer who would help us through the process and coordinate visits with the dogs we were interested in meeting.

We had our eyes on Nicole 13-351  to meet first and were very happy when her foster mom, Cindy Groth, thought it would be a good idea for us to meet after viewing our application.   Nicole had been a puppy mill mama for a little over 5 years when she was rescued with her 8 pups in October of 2013.   Her story touched our hearts and we hoped we might be her "forever home" since she needed to be with an older confident dog (that's certainly Buster) and a fenced in yard.   Her foster mom was great in helping us through the initial meetings and even suggested additional visits before the adoption at my house to be sure Nicole would be ready for the transition.

Nicole officially joined us on May 3rd of this year and it seems like she was just meant to be here.   The care that RAGOM and her foster mom gave her through 6+ months of foster care allowed her to find her way to the world of humans and the life of a Golden.  I'll be joining the fundraising efforts and walk on September 14th this year to assist with the fundraising for the RAGOM organization.    I invite you to read the stories on the available dogs and those that have already been adopted on the www.ragom.org site to learn more about the type of service and hardwork the RAGOM volunteers perform on a daily basis.   I'm hoping you will be able to sponsor my walk on the September 14th Goldzilla event so that RAGOM can continue to find each rescue dog their new forever home with your support.

Goldzilla is RAGOM's annual Fun Fair and Walk for Rescue. Funds raised at this event supports our mission of rescuing and rehoming Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes of all ages.
