I became a volunteer for Retrieve A Golden Of Minnesota in April of 2007. My first foster dog (Jacinda 07-253 now known as Indy) was transported with a number of other dogs from a puppy mill in Missouri. Jacinda/Indy was a very shy and timid dog which is very common for dogs that have been raised in puppy mills. I chose to adopt Indy after working with her for months to build her confidence and show her how to really be a dog. Indy has been a gracious host to a large number of foster dogs that I have had the pleasure to have in my home. She is the perfect teacher to the many shy and former puppy mill dogs that I foster.
Annie 13-316 is my current foster and she has been a RAGOM dog for 11 months and in my care for 10 months. Annie is one of the 133 dogs rescued by the Animal Humane Society from extremely substandard living conditions in Pine River, MN. Annie's life is so much better these days. She enjoys long walks with her pals, Indy, Lauren 08-498, and Jorja. And while Annie has made great improvements over the past year there are many things from her puppy mill upbringing that will not be erased. Annie will likely always be very shy and fearful of new people and new surroundings. Playing with toys are still completely foreign to her.
Please help Retrieve A Golden of Minnesota (RAGOM) on September 14 with their Goldzilla fundraiser. Annie's and Foster Dad's goal is to help raise $750.00 to help support the mission of rescuing and re-homing more dogs like Annie in 2015. Donations of $10 help buy monthly heartworm medication; $25 pays for a number of annual vaccinations; $60 covers the cost of a spay or neuter surgery from MNSNAP. Any amount you chose to donate is greatly appreciated!

Goldzilla is RAGOM's annual Fun Fair and Walk for Rescue. Funds raised at this event supports our mission of rescuing and rehoming Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes of all ages. This year, RAGOM will take in over 400 dogs. Your support is needed to help provide the veterinary care, training and fostering each dog requires before finding his or her adoptive family.
