This is my current RAGOM foster Satie 15-313. She is a beautiful, sweet 18 month old Golden Retriever. When she came into RAGOM 9 months ago, we did not know the extent of her issues. After much testing, a bout with aspiration pneumonia and weight loss down into the 40 pound range, she was diagnosed with canine mega-esophagus. This means that her esophagus it too large and the mucles cannot propel food down into her stomach adequately and  she regurgitates her food.  So Satie must be fed upright in the chair she is pictured in. Then gravity can help her food reach her stomach. She is now 1-2 pounds from her ideal weight. Satie also has a connective tissue disorder which causes her joints to be loose. She has a 'funny' gait. Neither of these are fixable or RAGOM would have done that long ago! So we manage. Most importantly-Satie manages and acts like any normal Golden! She loves to run and wrestle with ANY willing dog and snuggle with ANY human of ANY age! She is a very loving and sweet girl.

Many dogs with mega esophagus are put to sleep as soon as they are diagnosed. But we know that with proper management Satie can lead a 'normal' life. RAGOM could not take in and care for pups like Satie without your generous donations. Goldzilla is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Please support Satie and I.
