Three years ago, RAGOM and Nicole (13-351) entered my life when I was looking for a friend for my Golden, Buster. When I adopted Nicole, I never imagined at that time how our lives would change as we became part of the RAGOM family. Nicole, a former commercial breeding girl, was surrendered to RAGOM with her last litter of 8 pups and several other Goldens. I will always remember them describing how the transport volunteers carried her into her foster home in a small kiddie pool with her pups surrounding her. As they spoke to her gently, she wagged her tail a bit and that is when she was given her nickname of "Sweet Momma" Nicole.
Over the last three years, our lives have been very full and Nicole flourished with Buster's help. We became RAGOM volunteers and Nicole would join me on Home Visits, go to Meet & Greets and began truly living the Golden life. After losing Buster earlier this year, Nicole and I decided we might be able to help by starting to foster and completed the training in the spring. We have been blessed to foster 3 Goldens so far and help them find their forever families - all who would have had uncertain futures without RAGOM.
RAGOM is a community of volunteers who each day step up when the plea comes out to help a dog. Volunteers give their time and love to foster, help with transport, do intakes on surrenders, do home visits for adoptions, care for hospice dogs, work through surgery rehabs, assist special needs dogs and the list goes on and on. Your support in the past has allowed us to continue to be there for those who need us most and we are very, very grateful.
As we Walk for Rescue again this year, we are hoping you will consider supporting us in our fundraising efforts for RAGOM - and we hope to see you at Goldzilla!!
