After being in foster care for nearly 2.5 years I have decided to make Maria 20-067 an official member of my family. She has bonded deeply with her pal Bella and I could never stress her out by being yet another person who has given up on her because of her anxities and hip dysplasia. While Maria looks relaxed in this picture of her at the cabin she will not be attending Goldzilla in person. She is a retired breeder dog and the noise and movement of the crowd would not be a comfortable situation for Maria.
Foster Dad has been fostering with RAGOM for more than 15 years. Most of my foster dogs have been like Maria, a retired breeder dog. It takes time to help them learn to be a dog and relax and do activites that a non-breeder dog enjoys. At the cabin Maria knows that when Foster Dad puts on his tennis shoes it means it is walk time. She starts to bounce with excitement and is almost like she is telling me to hurry up. Her safe place is her crate where she has quite the accumulation of toys and chew bones. Maria ventures out when she sees the other dogs getting hugs and rubs from me and any visitors. If you pledge a lot it just means Foster Dad needs to take Maria on more walks at the cabin!
All donations are greatly appreciated and help offset the care we provide to the RAGOM foster dogs! Foster Dad will match the first $250.00 in pledges to Maria 20-067 and other foster dogs.
